Houseofolive - Olivenölhandel J. Avdic, Zurich (hereinafter “House of Olive ”) respects the privacy of all users of the website and online store. This Privacy Policy forms the basis for the processing of personal data and explains what types of data House of Olive collects from customers, how House of Olive uses this data, and what rights customers have. House of Olive complies with applicable data protection laws and processes personal data solely for the purposes for which the data was provided.

This privacy policy is adapted, supplemented or changed from time to time. With each new call or visit to the website, the current, retrievable version applies.

In the event of any conflict between this Privacy Policy and any other applicable terms and conditions of House of Olive , the provisions of this Privacy Policy shall take precedence.

On the other hand, personal data is collected automatically or manually when a customer provides it (e.g., by contacting us or creating a profile or account).

Data that are collected automatically

When you visit the website at House of Olive , statistical data is automatically collected regarding which parts of the website you visit. Each time a web page is accessed, the web server automatically saves a so-called server log file that contains, for example, the name of the requested file, the customer’s IP address, the date and time of access, the browser used, the operating system, the amount of data transferred, and the requesting provider (access data), and documents the access. In this context, it is sometimes necessary to use so-called cookies (see Section 4 below). 

This access data is evaluated exclusively for the purpose of ensuring trouble-free operation of the site and improving our offering.

Data collected when interacting with House of Olive for the purposes of contract fulfillment,
establishing contact, and when opening a customer account

House of Olive does not automatically collect personal information from customers, such as their name, address, phone number, or email address.

However, personal data from customers is collected when they voluntarily provide it in connection with an order or when contacting House of Olive (e.g., via the contact form or email). Required fields are marked as such because, in these cases, House of Olive requires the data to fulfill the contract or to process the inquiry, and without this information, the order or inquiry cannot be processed. The specific data collected is indicated on the respective input forms.

If a customer decides to open an account, House of Olive uses the personal data for the purpose of opening the account. The required information requested during registration must be provided in full; otherwise, houseofolive may reject the registration. House of Olive uses the collected personal data solely for the purpose of using the online store or the specific product, service, or offering for which the customer has registered. In addition, House of Olive may use the email address to notify the customer of important changes, such as changes to the product range, or technically necessary modifications.

Upon full fulfillment of the contract or after the account has been deleted, the customer’s data will be restricted from further processing and deleted after the retention periods required by tax and commercial law have expired, unless the customer has expressly consented to further use of the data or House of Olive reserves the right to use the data beyond these periods, as permitted by law. The account may be deleted at any time, either by sending a message to the contact information provided below (see Section 9 below) or by using the function provided for this purpose within the account.

Legal basis for collecting and processing personal data

The legal basis for the collection and processing of the customer's personal data depends in each individual case on the purpose of the data processing. In particular, the following come into question:

• the protection of the legitimate interests of House of Olive, provided that the interests of customers or fundamental rights or freedoms are not unduly affected;

• the conclusion or performance of a contract; or

• Consent of the customer at the time of collection of personal data. The customer may withdraw his or her consent at any time. For this purpose, a corresponding message can be sent to the contact details described below. The legality of the data processing already carried out remains unaffected by the revocation.

Use of cookies and use of the data

Cookies

In order to continuously improve the website for its customers, House of Olive may use cookies. Cookies are small pieces of data stored by web browsers (e.g., Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, or Mozilla Firefox) on the customer’s computer hard drive to facilitate the use of the website (e.g., language selection, shopping cart, etc.).

Google analyzes website usage to compile reports on website activity and to provide House of Olive with other services related to website and Internet usage. The IP address transmitted by the customer’s web browser as part of Google Analytics is not combined with any other data held by Google.

The information generated by cookies about the use of the website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Google observes the data protection provisions of the "Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield" agreement and has registered with the U.S. Department of Commerce for the "Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield" (for information on the Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield, see https://www.privacyshield.gov/Swiss-US-Privacy-Shield-FAQs).

Google Ads and Google Conversion Tracking

As part of Google Ads, House of Olive uses what is known as conversion tracking. When a customer clicks on an ad placed by Google, a cookie is set for conversion tracking. These cookies expire after 30 days at the latest and are not used to identify customers. If a customer visits the website at House of Olive and the cookie has not yet expired, Google and House of Olive can recognize that the customer clicked on the ad and was redirected to this page.

House of Olive House of Olive receives data from Google regarding the total number of users who clicked on the ad and were redirected to a website equipped with a conversion tracking tag. However, does not receive any information that could be used to personally identify the customer.

Google Maps
Provider is Google Ireland Ltd, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

House of Olive uses Google Maps to visually display geographic information. When Google Maps is used, Google transmits and processes data regarding website visitors’ use of Maps features, which may include, in particular, IP addresses and location data. House of Olive has no control over this data processing.

Insofar as information is transferred to Google servers in the USA and stored there, the American company Google LLC is certified under the "Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield".

To deactivate the Google Maps service and thus prevent data transmission to Google, a customer must deactivate the Java Script function in the web browser. In this case, Google Maps cannot be used or can only be used to a limited extent.

Social media content

House of Olive may use social media plugins from social networks, such as Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, on the website.

When a customer visits a website that contains such a plugin, the web browser establishes a direct connection to the servers of the respective social network. The plugin’s content is transmitted directly from the respective provider to the user’s web browser and integrated into the page. Through the integration of the plugins, the providers receive information that the user’s web browser has accessed the corresponding webpage at House of Olive , even if the user does not have a profile on the respective social network or is not currently logged in. This information (including the IP address) is transmitted directly from the customer’s web browser to a server operated by the respective provider (possibly in the U.S.) and stored there. If the customer is logged in to one of these services, the social network providers can immediately associate the visit to the House of Olive website with the customer’s profile on the respective social network. If the customer interacts with the plugins—for example, by clicking the “Like” or “Share” button—the corresponding information is also transmitted directly to a server operated by the provider and stored there. The information is also published on the social network and displayed there to the customer’s contacts.

These social media platforms have their own privacy policies, over which House of Olive has no control.

If the customer does not want any of these plugins to be loaded, it is recommended that he or she log out of the corresponding social networks. Furthermore, various web browsers can be set or supplemented with add-ons (e.g. Facebook blocker) so that the social media plugins are not loaded.

Newsletter

If a customer wishes to subscribe to a newsletter offered by House of Olive , House of Olive requires an email address and other information that allows us to verify that the provided email address belongs to the customer and that the customer consents to receiving the newsletter (the so-called “double-opt-in” process). If a customer wishes to subscribe to a newsletter, they may give their consent at the time of registration or do so later using the subscription function in their account.

Through the newsletter, customers regularly receive recommendations and offers that may be of interest to them. To this end, House of Olive collects and processes personal data regarding usage behavior on the website, orders placed at House of Olive , and how customers use the newsletter (e.g., whether the newsletter is opened or which web URL links are clicked). House of Olive may analyze this data for statistical purposes to better tailor the content of the newsletters to customers’ interests. 

The personal data entered in the newsletter sign-up form is processed based on the customer’s consent, which they may revoke at any time with future effect. Consent may be revoked either by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link in the newsletter, by sending a written notice to House of Olive at the address listed below, or by unsubscribing through your account. House of Olive uses the collected personal data to design the content and send out the newsletters. This data is not shared with third parties for their own (advertising) purposes.

House of Olive stores the personal data provided by customers for the purpose of subscribing to the newsletter until the customer unsubscribes from the newsletter. 

Sharing your data

House of Olive will not disclose customers’ personal data to third parties. Exceptions to this rule include cases where the customer has consented to the disclosure of data to companies not affiliated with House of Olive , or where House of Olive is required to do so by law, by a government agency, or by a court order. This also applies when service providers are engaged to assist House of Olive with data processing, website administration, or in other ways, as well as in the provision of products and services requested by the customer (e.g., package delivery or newsletter service providers). These third parties are required to maintain the same level of security and data protection as houseofolive.

Data security

Unfortunately, transmitting data over the Internet is not completely secure. House of Olive works with service providers and Internet service providers that implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect customers’ personal data. However, House of Olive cannot guarantee the security of the data transmitted by customers. Any data transmission is therefore at the customer’s own risk.

Your information and revocation rights

Of course, every customer is free to notify House of Olive at any time—for example, via email—that their personal data should not be used to contact them in the future.
